happy diwali

Diwali, the festival of lights is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs (on 24-28 October this year – dates vary according to the Indian lunar calendar) has become increasingly popular and mainstream in the UK. India loves its holy holidays, and during Diwali, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, a lot of time is spent on decorations, fireworks, food and also wearing new clothes on the day which represents the triumph of good over evil. Depending on who you talk to, the significance of the day may be explained in different ways. The great sage Ramana Maharshi said that Diwali signifies the shining of our true Self, after the destruction, through self-enquiry, of the Ego, with which we tend to identify. Due to our latent tendencies, we see the world in a certain way, and this becomes habitual. But when we practice self-enquiry, we eventually discover that our inner Self was always there, shining and bright, and that is our true nature. The Bhagavad Gita says ‘the light among lights……. said to be beyond darkness and called God by some, is the embodiment of knowledge, worthy of being known….. and dwells in the hearts of all.’ One of the… Read more »

nelson mandela

Nelson Mandela passed away on December 5th, 2013 He was imprisoned for 27 years by the South African apartheid government. His crime? Standing up against a government that was committing heinous human rights abuses against black South Africans. He was released from prison in 1990 and went on to lead the way for the abolition of apartheid in 1994. He was elected as South Africa’s first black president that same year. After suffering years of abuse, Nelson Mandela’s most astounding accomplishment was to create the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which focused on healing the country’s wounds from human rights abuses using truth-telling and forgiveness. I was moved, watching tv last night to see the members of the UN Security Council, standing in silence to honour Nelson Mandela, in recognition of the fact that he truly was a peacemaker. ‘I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers fear.’ ‘No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn… Read more »

Yesterday was Tara’s last day with us. She has decided to move on, and will no longer be practicing tantric massage. We will all miss Tara’s bright smile and radiant personality. I will always remember when she joined us two years ago. At that time, she had no experience of massage at all, but somehow I decided to take her on because she had a special quality about her. Since then, she enrolled on several massage courses and trainings, and has become one of our most popular masseuses. She has her own brand of common sense and a quality of taking interest in others and wanting to make others feel good – one might call it ‘spirit’, which is quite unique. We received the following email this morning from one of our regular clients: ‘Just wanted to say my session with Tara yesterday was in a par with one of Celeste’s …..It left my face and fingers tingling as tho they were literally vibrating.’ We all wish Tara lots of luck and happiness in her new life. She certainly deserves it.

Navaratri

Navaratri is a muti-day Hindu festival celebrated in the autumn.   For those of you who follow the hindu festivals, you will know that October 24th was Vijay Dashami Day, or the day of the Divine Mother, the 10th day of Navaratri.   Since ancient times, during Navaratri, Indians have invoked the energy aspect of God in the form of the universal mother, commonly referred to as Durga, which literally means the remover of miseries in life.   She is also referred to as Devi (goddess).   The dates for Navaratri are determined by the lunar calendar.   Vijayadasami or October 24th this year, is considered the most auspicious day of the year to start anything new. In India.   Astrologers are often consulted in order to find an auspicious date for starting a new business, holding a  wedding or beginning any type of new project.   In the autumn, this may well coincide with Vijayadasami.

london olympics

The London Olympics – what a treat Thoroughly brilliant enjoyment, fun, humour, music,  sparkle – and it made us all proud to be British! Many thanks to all those who helped to make it happen… PS. If, like me, you were wondering how the Queen was persuaded to take part, here is the answer: ” Queen Elizabeth needed little persuading in making her film debut, appearing with the country’s most famous fictional spy, James Bond during the London Olympic opening ceremony….” “The queen was delighted to be asked, and be involved in something so exceptional” a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman told Reuters on Saturday…..”it was our Olympics and the queen was delighted to be part of it.” The film was the brainchild of …. Danny Boyle, but it was…… Seb Coe who first approached the palace in 2011……When asked how much it took to persuade the queen to take part, a LOCOG spokeswoman said: “Not much”… …… “You don’t have to tell her something twice” Boyle was quoted as saying….”She picks it up straight away, about cameras and angles…..” “She was very happy to take part, she was very happy to do what she did” The Buckingham Palace spokeswoman added…. valentines day treat

For those of you who want ‘the ultimate pampering experience on Valentine’s day we could give you our equivalent of  the Cadogan Hotel’s  special offer of a Champagne Bubby Bath for Valentine’s Day. They fill the bath with 120 bottles of champagne, and also assign you a personal Champagne Butler !  Depending on the champagne used, the price can vary from  £25,000 for a bath of Dom Perignon vintage, to £4,000 for a bath in Louis de Custine Brut. Here, at Tantric Massage London in Kensington, we already knew about champagne baths, which apparently were made popular by Edward VII, the son of Queen Victoria, who had his own special bath made, and indulged in Champagne Baths in the brothels of Paris. We know about this because we all recently went to see the french  film: House of Tolerance (french title: L’Apollonide – Souvenirs de la maison close). In the film there is a scene where a client has a champagne bath with one of the prostitutes. Take a look at the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJhjmaVptiU

valentine's day

What are you planning to do on Valentine’s Day this year? I will be leaving for the warmth, sunshine and spiritual inspiration of India. But for those of you who will be staying in London, what better way to treat yourself than to experience the  peace and bliss of your own inner sunshine. Rather than spend the evening in an over-crowded, noisy restaurant or bar, why not REALLY enjoy yourself and book an ecstatic tantric massage session…If you have a partner, you could also have a tantric tuition session together, or if you dont have a partner, an individual tuition and tantra coaching session with Celeste is available here, in our lovely tantric massage studio in Kensington, Central London, or, if you prefer, in your hotel room. While you decide, here is some light-hearted advice from a couple of agony aunts.. on one of the most asked about questions regarding people’s sex lives: X: Have been in a relationship for five years now and have a rather difficult problem. The trouble is the longer it’s gone on the harder it is to actually tell him. Despite having a good regular sex life, my partner has never made me come –… Read more »

brighten our day

Brighten our day! We will still have workmen here until September 19th – but clients are coming  for tantric massage appointments in the afternoons, and discovering that our second room is just as nice, if not nicer than the main massage room. We look forward to your comments on the new shower room, which should be ready by September 19th. We really hope you will like it. In the meanwhile, here is an uplifting quote from Thich Nhat Han: ‘In true love, you attain freedom. When you love, you bring freedom to the person you love. If the opposite is true, it is not true love. You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free, not only outside, but inside. Dear one, do you have enough space in your heart and all around you? This is an intelligent question for testing whether your love is something real.’

You need to click on the photos to enlarge and see them in their full glory ! And one month ago, Celeste was given another present by yet another charming and generous client of ours here at Tantric Massage London in Kensington. We didnt think of taking a photo of the lovely wrapping at the time,  and all the tantric masseuses were so excited to see what was inside, that we just ripped off the wrapping paper. celeste tantric masseuse

Celeste has been with us for 4 years now She is our most experienced tantric masseuse. She is also currently the only masseuse at Tantric Massage London in Kensington to be offering tantric tuition sessions and tantric massage for women. Many of you have been charmed by her magic touch, her skill and her lovely peaceful aura, but you may not  all know that Celeste is about to take her Sports Massage final exams in one week’s time. We all wish her lots of luck on the day –  judging by the brilliant testimonials she keeps receiving from all of you, I know she will pass with flying colours…. and Celeste will then be able to offer tantric massage combined with Sports Massage or deep tissue massage for those of you who may be interested. I have always said that I feel that a true tantric masseuse should have some form of meditation practice, be interested in the different forms of healing and health and ideally be a relaxing person to be around. Celeste combines all these qualities and more. She also has a lot of common sense and intelligence, which is why she is the only tantric masseuse in our practice, to offer tantric… Read more »

shivaratri

Today is Shivaratri It is considered to be  one of the holiest nights of the year, dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is the one who destroys that which is old and impure in order to make room for a new creation which is pure and divine. He annihilates our egos, our attachments and our ignorance, so that life can begin anew. Below is a rather long, but lovely story Once a King called upon all his wise men and asked them,“Is there a mantra or suggestion which works in every situation, in every circumstance, in every place and in every time. Something which can help me when none of you is available to advise me. Tell me is there any mantra?”   All wise men were puzzled by King’s question. One answer for all questions? Something that works everywhere, in every situation? In every joy, every sorrow, every defeat and every victory? They thought and thought. After a lengthy discussion, an old man suggested something which appealed to all of them. They went to the king and gave him something written on paper. But the condition was that king was not to see it out of curiosity. Only… Read more »

tantra

India, as you all know, is the home of Tantra I have just returned from a 2 week stay in Kollur, Karnataka, India. Kollur is the home of the well-known Mookambika Temple which is among the seven most sacred temples in the state of Karnataka. It is said that the image of Goddess Mookambika was installed here by the great Sri Adi Shankara, the revered Hindu saint, who performed years of penance in the area. It is believed that Adi Shankara perceived the idea of having a Mookambika Devi temple at Kollur and himself installed the statue of the deity in the temple some 1200 years ago. It is also said that the Shiva Lingam in front of the goddess, materialised miraculously on its own. Mookambika is regarded as a manifestation of Shakti, Saraswathi and Mahalakshmi. In fact, she symbolises the Supreme Truth or Transcendental Supreme Reality. In the top middle photo, you can see the statue of Goddess Mookambika being paraded around the temple, in a special golden chariot, carried by dozens of temple priests. as well as the individuals who have paid for the event. They usually run as fast as they can, with bells clanging, crowds… Read more »

valentine's day

If you are like me and you are really put off by the materialism surrounding our so called holidays – and the hype and the social pressure to celebrate on a particular day – here are some poems and sayings which may remind us of the true inspiration behind Valentine’s Day: ‘This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally to take a step without feet.’           Rumi   If you can’t smell the fragrance Dont come into the garden of Love. If you’re unwilling to undress Don’t enter into the stream of Truth. Stay where you are. Don’t come our way.                                                                   Rumi   ‘You cannot have love through technique. You can have sensation through a technique, but that is not love. Love is something that cannot be told, that cannot be carried across through newspapers or through propaganda. It must be felt, it must be understood. But if you repeat love, love, love, it has no meaning. You will know of that love when the mind is quiet, when the mind is free from its conditioning,… Read more »

erotic massage - dita von teese

dita von teese The Erotica Show opens this year at Olympia London,on November 19. The headline attraction for the show is Dita Von Teese. I am a great admirer of hers – she has such radiance, glamour, style and a very unique quality of elegance. But, looking at the rest of what is on offer made me start to ponder about what erotic or erotic massage really means. Wilkipedia gives an interesting definition of eroticism: “Unlike sensuality, which concentrates on the pleasures of the senses, eroticism is concerned with heightening those pleasures. To achieve that objective, eroticism can involve a delay in sexual gratification in order to intensify the satisfaction level by extending the period of yearning desire.” Perceptions of what is erotic fluctuate. Khajuraho in India, famous for its erotic sculpture, is a very popular tourist destination and is considered to be one of the ‘seven wonders of India.’ The Khajuraho temples don’t contain sexual or erotic art inside the temple or near the deities. The idea is that one must leave one’s sexual desires outside the temple and the inner deity of the temple is pure like the soul, unaffected by sexual desires. But the external carvings depict “twisting,… Read more »

Happy Halloween

Halloween used to be mainly celebrated by children in America ( as well as Scotland and Ireland),but now it seems to be becoming more and more popular with all generations in this country. Everyone seems to love an excuse to get dressed up, put face paint on,  and  go out and party. I first saw children go out  ‘Trick- or -Treating” when I lived in California in the ’80’s.  Nowadays, they are all doing it here too, although I did see one rather bad tempered neighbour a few years ago, slam his front door in the face of a group of angelic children, dressed up as wizards and fairies, with the words: ‘This is England, not America!” I went to see the film about Facebook this weekend – The Social Network. I definitely recommend it – its a fascinating story, and very well acted. Talking of Facebook, I found the above picture on there today, with the following quote: “He breathes into my ear until my soul takes on His fragrance. He is the soul of my soul.”  – Rumi –
