spiritually transmitted diseases

This is taken from an article in Huffington Post entitled 10 spiritually transmitted diseases by Mariana Caplan. Those who have been reading the articles in my blog will be aware of my thoughts on developments in the world of tantric massage and spirituality in general, so you may recognise that the thoughts expressed by Mariana Caplan on the subject of spiritually transmitted diseases are totally after my own heart. I wont quote her article word for word, but will include the points which stand out. Faux Spritituality The tendency to talk, dress and act as we imagine a spiritual person would. A kind of imitation spirituality.. Confused Motivations Although our desire to grow is genuine and pure, it often gets mixed with the wish to be loved, the desire to belong, the need to fill our inner emptiness, the belief that the spiritual path will remove our suffering….. Identifying with Spiritual Experiences The ego identifies with spiritual experiences and takes them as its own. The Spiritualized Ego When the ego becomes spiritualized, we become ‘bullet-proof’ and invulnerable to help, new input or constructive feedback. Mass Production of Spritual Teachers No need to say more on this one. Spiritual Pride A feeling… Read more »

slow down

On how to slow down I was struck recently by an article written by Carl Honore, on the subject of slow sex.. He writes: ‘The other day a buddy of mine was making love to his new girlfriend when her IPhone beeped with an incoming text message. Like any guy, he hoped she would ignore the alert – or even fail to notice it altogether. The opposite happened. The woman opened her eyes, grabbed the phone from the bedside table and read the message. She then typed out a short reply. “To be fair, she apologised and suggested we go back to the sex” says my crestfallen friend, ” But it was kind of a mood-killer.” Two conclusions can be drawn from an anecdote like this. The first is that my friend maybe needs to brush up on his sexual technique. The second is that his girlfriend’s behaviour reveals something alarming about the way we live nowadays. In this media-drenched, mutitasking, always-on age, many of us have forgotten how to unplug and immerse ourselves completely in the moment. We have forgotten how to slow down.’ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/carl–honore/in-praise-of-slow–sex_b_322026.html   The reason this article attracted my attention was that this used to happen… Read more »

tantra and senior sex

The following is really a joke involving senior sex and nothing whatsoever to do with tantra The husband leans over and asks his wife, “Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind the village tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.” Yes, she says, “I remember it well.” OK, he says, “How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it for old time’s sake?” “Oh Jim, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!” A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself, I’ve got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I’ll just keep an eye on them so there’s no trouble. So he follows them. The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves… Read more »

tantra in relationship

The above cartoon typifies the ’emotionally unavailable’ man of the 1950’s as depicted in movies and tv programmes like ‘Mad Men’ If we look around today at the younger men who help with the cooking and looking after their babies, it seems that things have changed. But have they really? Maybe  age old difference between men and women still exist:   Women fall in love with what they hear.. and men fall in love with what they see. Woman begins by resisting a man’s advances and ends by blocking his retreat.                                                                                                               Oscar Wilde.      And  dozens of articles are still written,  giving advice on how to communicate with an emotionally unavailable partner. From the tantra point of view, all this happens because both men and women cannot connect with the love inside themselves. Love in relationship is a purifying process as it reveals the ways… Read more »

tantric massage london kensingon

The majority of people who come to our Tantric Massage London Kensington clinic, both men and women, come on their own. Sometimes they tell their partner, but the majority do not, because they feel their partner may object, feel jealous, feel insecure, or simply will not understand why they should come to us. However, we are getting more and more brave couples who come together, as a couple, to enhance the sensual side of their relationship. I call them brave, because it does require courage for a woman to have her partner lie on a massage table, and be aroused to orgasm by another woman, even if that woman is a tantric masseuse. In the same way, it takes courage for a man to admit that he could improve his skills and be taught how to give more pleasure to his wife. And they are also brave because, rather than give up trying to work on their relationship, and come to us secretly, they come openly and united as a couple. Once the initial step has been taken, and inhibitions and fears have been set aside, and the appointment has been made, couples do feel so many benefits. Here is… Read more »

at tantric massage london we are spiritual beings

I thought about the above quote today, because we had a client who asked me about tantra practice.  When I asked him what he meant, his answer was that he didnt at present, have a partner. This answer didnt really make sense to me, and I told him that I thought he should think about what he was really trying to say. In my opinion, the majority of clients who come to us for a tantric massage really want a nice sensual massage. or erotic massage. And there is nothing wrong with that. But some of them dont like to admit it, and use all the tantric terminology, without really understanding it – maybe because they feel shy or embarrassed, and this is their way of covering up that uncomfortable feeling.  Very few are really interested in Tantra in the true sense. And that is also fine. But I do think that it is good to be honest with oneself. Because only then can we feel comfortable in our own skin. Here is a lovely quote from Ramana Maharshi, when he was questioned in his ashram: Visitor: What is the method to… Read more »

tantric massage for women

Tantric massage for women is far less  requested than for men. It seems that the majority of men have few qualms about being adventurous and trying out something new in the feld of sensual exploration. But what about women? Are they more cautious? Are their needs different? There are several tantric groups and workshops available where both women and men can go and take part for a few hours, or for a weekend, or for several weekends, in programmes where they are taught to communicate more clearly and honestly, and to get in touch with their senses and feelings in a more profound and deeper way. But they usually dont get to give or receive a tantric massage until they have progressed and participated in a determined number of these workshops. The clients who come to us  are people who want to receive a one on one massage and in the main, are not attracted to participating in a group. But these workshops may be ideal for many other men or women who want to work on different personal issues, or who may initially find the idea of receiving a tantric massage from a total stranger, a little too threatening. surrender to god

Surrender to God is advocated by many of the world’s religious traditions It is considered a means of  transcending the individual self. But the word surrender is often misunderstood. What we want most in life is to be right. And we want to know that we are right. But one of life’s most bittersweet moments is when we finally realise that we don’t have it all figured out. Everyone with an ounce of self awareness eventually figures out there’s a price to pay to be right. The two quotes below may shed some light on this. Whatever is destined not to happen will not happen, try as you may .Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to prevent it.That is certain. The best course, therefore, is to remain silent.                                                                                                     Ramana Maharshi Everything changes from moment to moment, so why spend so much time and energy worrying about… Read more »

the play of shadows

The screen is real, the pictures are mere shadows on it……… “The screen is always there; the pictures come and go, but do not affect the screen. What does the screen care whether the pictures appear or disappear? The pictures depend upon the screen. But what use are they to it? The man who looks only at the pictures on the screen and not the screen itself, is troubled by the pains and pleasures that occur in the story. But the man who views the screen, realises that the images are all shadows and not something apart and distinct from the screen. So also with the world. It is all a shadow play.”                                                                              Ramana Maharshi – Letters   All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances ;And one man in his time plays many parts……                                                                      William Shakespeare – As You Like It

I am that

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj said : ‘As long as you identify yourself with body and mind, you are bound to suffer; realize your independence and remain happy. I tell you, this is the secret of happiness. To believe that you depend on things and people for happiness is due to ignorance of your true nature; to know that you need nothing to be happy, except self-knowledge, is wisdom.’ Nisargadatta Maharaj

Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out but some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. The Power of the Mind – A True Story : The railway train was running at full speed from Calcutta to Delhi. In one compartment, two British passengers were talking in English. Pointing at one monk (sadhu), traveling in the same compartment, one British passenger was telling the other, “Look, what a deception! With such youthful age, healthy body, and full capacity to work, this man became monk to get free food and to loiter anywhere. There are thousands of such monks in this country and people feed them in blind faith.” Criticism of this sort went on for a long time, but the monk sitting on the opposite seat was pondering deeply with a calm posture. When the train arrived at one station and halted, the station master saw the monk, bowed down before him and asked in English, “What can I do in your service, sir?” The monk answered in English, “One glass of water will be enough. I want nothing else.” The two British passengers observed that the monk spoke in such pure English. They felt surprised. They never knew that the sanyasi was educated. They had abused the monk so much and still there was not… Read more »

meditation - ramana

To talk about tantra without mentioning meditation, is to misunderstand tantra completely Yet how many so-called tantric practitioners really practice meditation? Some people are naturally endowed with less busy minds than others, but all the great sages of the past achieved the states of higher peace through many many years of meditation. And it is thanks to their experiences which have often been described and recorded, that we can get a hint on what meditation truly is. Question:   What should one think of when meditating? Ramana Maharshi: What is meditation? It is the suspension of thoughts. You are perturbed by thoughts which rush one after another. Hold on to one thought so that others are expelled. Continuous practice gives the necessary strength of mind to engage in meditation. Meditation differs according to the degree of advancement of the seeker.  If one is fit for it one can hold directly to the thinker; and the thinker will automatically sink into his source, which is Pure Consciousness. If one cannot directly hold on to the thinker, one must meditate on God; and in due course the same individual will have become sufficiently pure to hold on to the thinker and… Read more »

beyond tantra

Below is an excerpt from the above book, by Mieke and Stephan Wik It is one of the most practical books I have read on improving one’s sex life when involved in a relationship or marriage. We do not offer Tantric Sex at Tantric Massage London in Kensington, but we hope that our tantric massage sessions can give our clients the necessary tools for improving their relationship with a partner. “You can learn and practise Sacred Sex with people other than your partner. But ideally, this means that the other person is also an adept and that there is a very high level of trust and awareness involved…. in practice, however, most people find that it is very difficult to do this. Our society does not equip most of us with the emotional and intellectual frameworks needed to allow this sort of scenario to play out well in the long term……. Sacred Sex takes time and practice. It’s not really something that you can do well during a one night stand…….” We hope that by visiting us and  receiving a tantric massage which is offered with love and caring, and with your best interests at heart, can be a… Read more »

Navaratri

Navaratri is a muti-day Hindu festival celebrated in the autumn.   For those of you who follow the hindu festivals, you will know that October 24th was Vijay Dashami Day, or the day of the Divine Mother, the 10th day of Navaratri.   Since ancient times, during Navaratri, Indians have invoked the energy aspect of God in the form of the universal mother, commonly referred to as Durga, which literally means the remover of miseries in life.   She is also referred to as Devi (goddess).   The dates for Navaratri are determined by the lunar calendar.   Vijayadasami or October 24th this year, is considered the most auspicious day of the year to start anything new. In India.   Astrologers are often consulted in order to find an auspicious date for starting a new business, holding a  wedding or beginning any type of new project.   In the autumn, this may well coincide with Vijayadasami.

hysteria on tantric massage blog

A tantric massage client phoned me a few days ago to tell me about the movie ‘Hysteria.’ I must confess that I haven’t seen the film myself yet,  but what interested me in the conversation with our client was that he pointed out how very respectable it was for a woman to go to a doctor in Victorian times, and to receive ‘manual digital relief’ in order to produce a ‘paroxysm of relief.’ The film is about the invention of the vibrator in late-Victorian England. A society doctor administers manual relief to his wealthy female patients as a cure for hysteria. ‘Hysteria’ was a condition ascribed to women and thought to be caused by disturbances of the uterus. It was a catch-all diagnosis for women suffering from anything ranging from a headache to depression to disobedience (the diagnosis was only finally dropped in the 1950’s). The doctor develops ‘masturbator’s elbow’ or carpal tunnel syndrome, and this leads to the invention of the first electric vibrator. The film’s director, Tanya Wexler, says:’ They didn’t consider the treatment sexual, because the husband was not involved. They thought the orgasm, or paroxysm as they… Read more »

lady gaga fame

Lady Gaga Fame, her new fragrance, has been hitting the headlines Almost 2 years ago, according to rumours, she said the scent would have notes of ‘blood and semen’ and be suited to an expensive hooker. You may be the kind of person who has already started wondering what to get your female friends for Xmas, and this is certainly an idea – but we are not entirely convinced – here goes:   When it was realised that Fame was not likely to sell based on the earlier propaganda about ‘blood and semen’, the rumour changed to the perfume having the same molecular structure as  the bodily fluids. Today, the box bears no mention of blood or semen. Instead it has notes of Belladonna – a deadly nightshade, pulverised apricot, saffron and honey drops. The eau de parfum, in the futuristic bottle, is a murky black. When you spray the fragrance  it turns clear while airbourne. Lady Gaga Fame costs £25 for 30 ml What do you think ? Let us know whether you would enjoy a tantric massage using grapeseed oil combined with a drop of Lady Gaga Fame…..         http://www.elleuk.com/beauty/news/lady-gaga-s-fame-fragrance-how-it-smells#image=1

improve your marriage through tantra

I was chatting – or shall we say’ having communication’ with my 21 year old nephew yesterday about the flat which he shares with 4 other guys and 5 girls.  He told me that the girls are always quarrelling and have all fallen out with one another, whereas the guys seem to get on much better. When I asked him what he thought the reason was, he said that  guys are less complicated – they talk about common interests, like football and if they dont see eye to eye, they just move on to another subject…. I was intrigued by this, and it reminded me of an article I read recently on www.oprah.com entitled: How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It “So, I wonder, does this explain why, when I reach out and tell Hugh I’m feeling isolated from him—on the assumption that this will foster closeness—he gets defensive or withdraws? Do my verbal attempts to reestablish intimacy make him feel inadequate? Is that why he gets that glazed look in his eye and is suddenly compelled to watch men tossing balls on TV? When a man feels shamed by a woman’s criticism, his body is flooded with… Read more »

tantric massage and hatha yoga

I have always felt that a good masseuse should practice hatha yoga There is a definite connection between the two, and in fact, Thai massage is also known as ‘ the lazy man’s yoga’. Most of the tantric masseuses at Tantric Massage in Kensington do practice Hatha Yoga. Now the Journal of Sexual Medicine has published a study stating that ‘ guys who practiced yoga for 12 weeks, tripled the length of time they lasted in bed – from 7.3 minutes to 22 minutes ‘ So hopefully this may prove to be an incentive to some of our clients, to join a hatha yoga class !! Below is some basic information for those who may be considering joining a  yoga class for the first time: ‘Most yoga styles are rooted in Hatha yoga – it’s yoga’s physical discipline that focuses on developing control of the body through asana or poses. As well as physical well-being, Hatha yoga can also give you a mental boost. Its a great entry point for yoga ‘virgins’ as the moves are not too tricky. You could then proceed to more advanced classes of Ashtanga yoga,  which is more fast paced and intense, Iyengar yoga wich… Read more »
