sexological bodyworker

Celeste is now a qualified Sexological Bodyworker.   She completed the course (see details in my previous blog article   https://www.tantricmassagelondon.com/tantric-massage-and-sexological-bodywork/) and received the qualification because she has been very much in demand for our Tantric Therapy/Tuition sessions for several years now,and she wanted to study the subject in more depth. The idea was to get more knowledge, feedback and a recognised qualification. The t-shirt she received on graduating shows that the organisation has a sense of humour, which is always a plus. Personally, I wasn’t too sure what a Sex Geek is, so I have searched the term and come up with some interesting definitions. The Urban Dictionary definition is: “Someone who takes pride in learning, applying and spreading throughout their lives, accurate sexual health information, effective communication skills and relationship blackbelt knowhow regardless of sexual identity and practices” http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Sex+Geek   Sex-Positive Podcasts “that helped me realize, I’m a Sex Geek   I identify as a ‘sex geek’ It’s a term that was coined and made popular by renowned sex educator Reid Mihalko and I’ve been one since before there even was a term for it…….. ” https://medium.com/@lizandrade/sex-positive-podcasts-that-helped-me-realize-i-m-a-sex-geek-6e21a99aebe9#.jx6j2r26l   10 Ways to become a Sexy Geek Confidence… Read more »

internal clitoris - betty dodson

Betty Dodson is a well-known sex educator I have mentioned her before, in previous articles on this blog. For women, in particular, it is well worth reading some of the many articles on her comprehensive website: http://www.dodsonandross.com   She has written countless articles and produced many videos on all kinds of subjects related to women’s sexuality.   In the video above, she draws a vagina, including the clitoris and I thought it would be interesting, helpful and educational for both women and men to watch.   In fact, it seems that it was only in 2009 that researchers produced the first complete three-dimensional sonography of the stimulated clitoris, similar to the blue and yellow picture above.   Before that, there were only incomplete or inaccurate textbook descriptions and nobody knew about the full anatomical scope of the excited clitoris until the late 1990s, when an MRI was used to study its structure in its ‘live’ state.   The researchers worked for 3 years without proper funding and it is thanks to them that we now understand how the erectile tissue of the clitoris engorges and surrounds the vagina – a complete breakthrough that explains how what we once considered… Read more »

tantric massage and sexological bodywork

Tantric massage and Sexological Bodywork work well together I never labelled my practice ‘tantric massage’ until around 2005 when suddenly everyone started using the internet and I noticed websites appearing, calling themselves ‘tantric massage london’ etc. So I decided that if they can call themselves tantric massage, I will also. I never had any illusions about the fact that tantra is something entirely different, because, as it happened, my original spiritual teacher, who I met in 1974, came from a tantric tradition. But the word tantra was hardly ever used among us. We received initiation, practiced meditation and received the transmission of energy. We were also given several practices – none of which included massage !! SkyDancing Tantra In the seventies, Margot Anand created a system which she called ‘Skydancing Tantra’ It included tantric massage and encompassed many of the teachings of Osho on sexuality (see my blog article on the origin of tantric massage). Osho Osho, an Indian guru who became popular in the 1970’s, kept stressing the fact that in the West. our religions have created a split between body and soul, which has led to guilt, shame and conflict over sexuality. So he encouraged his followers,… Read more »

Tantric massage

We have been practicing tantric massage in London for over 20 years. When we first began, there were maybe 5 practitioners in the whole of London offering tantric massage. And we all advertised in a publication called Loot. Those were the days before the internet. There were no photos on display, no sexy images, simply a short ad, with our telephone number. And all the practitioners knew one another. Today, if someone wants a tantric massage, they will search on the internet, often via google, and they will find dozens of pages of listings. If a person just goes through the listings on page one of their search, most of the services they will find are escorts disguised as tantric massage. We have lost the innocence and gentleness of the early days. Now, large escort agencies buy their way onto Google search and do all they can to eliminate the competition. This has nothing to do with tantra or tantric massage. It has also changed the expectations of clients who visit these masseuses or escorts in disguise, and then come to us, asking for ‘yoni massage’ and other services which… Read more »

tantra thoughts

Tantra is a philosophy which needs to become an integral part of our daily life. And the tantra path needs a teacher to point out the direction. Otherwise, when we come to a crossroad, how do we know whether to turn left or right? How do we learn to look inwards and not outwards? Eventually, we become more and more attuned to the inner teacher, who is revealed in the depth of our heart. But it does help to have an outer teacher, especially at the beginnng. And where do we find a true tantra teacher? It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. In the words of a Sufi Teacher: ‘ The unspoken poverty of our culture is a poverty of spirit, a real hunger for what the West has forgotten: that not just individual life, but all of creation is sacred…… we are part of the great mystery of creation…..First, we need to recognise that this connection with the Earth is missing, that there is an ache, a loneliness within our heart and soul….. and a grief for what we have lost. Because our soul remembers, even if our mind and… Read more »

blue moon

Tonight will be the night of the Blue Moon. Most of us don’t know what a Blue Moon is, except that it was a song sung by Frank Sinatra (you can listen to the song below) Nowadays, a Blue Moon can often refer to the second full moon of the month. This month, the first full moon was on July 2. An older definition of Blue Moon is that it is the third of four full moons in a single season. Some days, but not often, you might see an actual blue-coloured moon. The term ‘once in a blue moon’ used to mean something rare. Now that the rules for naming the Blue Moon include several different possibilities, Blue Moons are pretty common.     The Blue Moon this year is also the night of Guru Purnima                   It is a popular festival in India, celebrated to pay respect and offer gratitude to gurus and teachers. Indians have a lot of respect for their gurus because it is considered that the Guru is the one who provides an individual with knowledge and wisdom, and leads us towards the path of enlightenment…. tantra-tantric tuition

What happens in your Tantra-Tantric Tuition ? Is a question that we often get asked by prospective clients. So I thought I would write an article on the subject, although of course, like all our sessions, the Tantra-Tantric tuition is adapted to each individual. I will be writing here about Tantra-Tantric tuition for men because this is where we get most of the questions. We make it a pre-requisite that anyone wanting to have Tantra-Tantric tuition should experience a tantric massage with us first. The reason for this is that one learns by receiving as well as by giving, and receiving is part of the learning experience. If you want to be able to give a wonderful tantric massage, you need to have experienced it on yourself first. It is possible to book a 2 hour appointment – and then the first hour would consist of the massage and the second hour would be the tuition. You do not need to book a series of sessions in advance but can take them individually, and decide at the end of each appointment whether you would like to book another one. That way, you can feel free and do… Read more »

meditation recommended by the Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones may recommend it , but what is meditation?   There is a lot of talk about meditation nowadays, but how many people really know what it is? Our world has become one of ‘instant gurus’. People do a course here and there, and then set themselves up as experts. They then teach courses themselves, charge a lot of money and delude everyone else as well as themselves. It is what some Masters have called ‘ the soup of the soup of the soup. ‘ – the diluted understanding which results from our superficial modern world of instant communication and instant gratification. Words like meditation, chakras, kundalini have become part of everyday language. It is all too easy to copy or repeat a few paragraphs from a book or website, without any real understanding of what is being said. People want quick results and dont want to put in the time for real practice and deeper experience. They like to concoct their own philosophies. However, there is another side and a lot of precious information is also available. Generally speaking, it is advisable to turn to the teachings of the great Masters… Read more »

the origin of tantric massage

There are many misconceptions about the origin of Tantric Massage It did not originate in India thousands of years ago, but first started to become popular at the ashram of Rajneesh in Pune, India in the 1970’s and then spread to California in the 1980s. Tantric massage has nothing to do with Tantra in the true sense of the term. Its origins can be traced mainly to the work of two people: a French woman, Margot Anand, and an American man, Joseph Kramer. A lot of their work was influenced by Wilhelm Reich, Carl Rogers, Alexander Lowen and the many other pioneers of the human consciousness movement around the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, as well as by Taoist philosophy, Mantak Chia and the teachings of Rajneesh, later named  Osho, a controversial Indian guru of that period. Margot Anand Margot Anand was a graduate of the Sorbonne University in Paris. Like many other ‘seekers’ in the 1970s, she was drawn to India and stayed for some time at the ashram of Rajneesh in Poona. Rajneesh, whose name was later changed to Osho, was a controversial guru, who was said to have owned 99 Rolls Royces and promoted his… Read more »

shakti

Shakti will be with us for one more week and she will then go abroad to continue her studies.   She has been with us for over 3 years, and we wish her well. We hope that she will continue to visit and work with us during her holidays so do keep an eye out for our Schedule as we will post her name as and when she visits. Several of our masseuses have Sanskrit names. This is customary in India, and helps to remember the quality for which each god or goddess is known. Shakti personifies the Goddess, the  divine feminine creative power – the dynamic force of the universe. Shakti is the power, drive and force within a person. During our massages, we often play the CD of the 108 names of the Goddess because in traditional Tantra, worship of Shakti, or Mother Divine, is an integral part of the practices. This is not the maternal aspect of the mother, but the powerful energy which lies at our deepest level of awareness. All this is quite alien to our western culture, which may be one reason why there is so much wrong understanding of the original tantric… Read more »

Valentine’s Day is coming up again . Do you feel that you would like to offer your loved one a special experience or a gift? Or maybe there isn’t a special someone in your life.. Either way, one shouldn’t feel pressurised on Valentine’s Day or any other day. Even though society does its best to heap on the pressure on these commercial holidays, with articles about all of the wonderful things that people are doing. So I thought I would stick to chocolate – which is something you can either buy for someone, or enjoy yourself. From the days of the Aztecs, chocolate has been considered an aphrodisiac – it contains chemicals such as theobromine and phenylethylamine which are thought to be responsible for chocolate’s erotic potency. It is of course, also delicious and melts sensually in the mouth.         Chocolates come in all shapes and sizes. On Valentine’s day, you would think heart-shaped chocolates would be appropriate. However, I was surprised to learn that Edible Anus chocolates, as pictured above, from http://www.edibleanus.com , have already sold out, one week before Valentine’s day.   If the idea of getting your female partner a chocolate dress appeals… Read more »

female orgasm

The female orgasm is the subject of of the first video in a new Guardian series of videos. Psychotherapist and agony aunt, Philippa Perry, who is married to the cross-dressing artist Grayson Perry (see picture above) . responds to a woman who is suffering from anorgasmia and doesn’t want to resort to faking it in her new relationship. You can watch the video on the Guardian website: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/video/2015/jan/23/50-never-had-orgasm-video In summary, Philippa Perry tells the questioner that 1 in 15 women dont have orgasms. It annoys her that  our culture has made it into this big enormous thing that women actually  feel ashamed when they dont have an orgasm. Orgasms are not the ultimate signifier of a fulfilling sexual relationship. What makes a good relationship is not all about orgasms – it’s about how open you can be with each other – sharing on a deep level……..In general, the standard advice  for inability to reach orgasm, is to try masturbation – knowing how to please yourself is  a good first step………       Ladies Come First is the brainchild of two sisters in their twenties, Sophie and Alice Holloway. tantra on gwyneth paltrow's goop

Mention Tantra and most people think of having sex for hours ‘a la Sting’.   An introduction to tantra on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop has been published. So now another famous celebrity has added her name to the practitioners of Tantra. Or at least she has published an article on Tantra on her website: ‘Goop’.   I was attracted by an article which stated: ‘Gwyneth Paltrow has shocked followers of her lifestyle website Goop by posting an introduction to ‘tantric’ sex.’   However, this is not entirely true. The article is written by Michaela Boehm, who teaches seminars on Tantra. It is written mainly in a Question- Answer format. Naturally, she is talking about neo-tantra, although she doesn’t mention the term, and seems to have little interest in traditional Tantra. But intriguingly, she does say: ” In reality, only a small portion of Tantra has anything to do with sex, and only as a way to merge with the divine.”   She is really interested in helping to improve people’s relationships, problems with intimacy, getting in touch with the masculine or feminine part within us and gives ‘ten tips for creating wild passion and deep intimacy‘   The author… Read more »
